A helpful article on Inside Higher Education today offers a good reminder for students that I try to offer them whenever I can. One person on your campus that is absolutely excited about seeing you and can't wait to help you is your school's librarian. Not only can they provide assistance on research projects, but they often have lots of answers (to questions you haven't even thought of!) right at their fingertips.
There's a world of information available to you, but sifting through all of it can be messy. That's why you need a skilled helper to guide you. I've never met a librarian who wasn't passionate about not only the books, databases, and resources they were in charge of, but I've also never met one who wasn't enthusiastic about helping students and teachers. They live to be asked questions, I promise. So if you're stuck on a school project, the first place you should go is the library. Make a new friend this semester by visiting your school's library and talking to the librarian. And maybe check out a book or two while you're there.
I'll have an interesting piece of information I recently obtained from a librarian I know posted here on Friday, so check back then.
