This week saw the beginning of the new season of The Bachelor on ABC. I decided to watch it on my DVR last night, moderately curious as to how the show would pick up the pieces after last season’s Juan Pablo parade of idiocy, and so I could fast-forward through the insufferable number of minutes devoted to teases, recaps, and interviews with former cast members that stretched to an absurd three hours (!!!). While this season appears to be poised to deliver the manufactured drama to which we have grown addicted, do yourself a favor and savor your Bachelor buzz a little while longer by taking in the day-after commentary on the Grantland website each week. While a tad raunchy in places, it is also hilariously insightful, dependably critiquing the farce that is contrived love, contrived television, and contrived love on television. Grantland’s analysis of sports and pop culture continues to offer some of the best writing on the interweb. Check it out and let me know your predictions for rose recipients.
