When I saw the headline this week “Which Days of the Week Have Inspired the Most Hit Songs?” I instantly started going through the catalog of songs in my brain to see if I could guess the answer. I thought of “Saturday in the Park” by Chicago, “Friday I’m in Love” by The Cure, and “Ruby Tuesday” by the Rolling Stones. But my best guess was Monday: “Monday Morning” by Fleetwood Mac, “Manic Monday” by The Bangles, and of course “Monday, Monday” by the Mamas and the Papas came to me quickly. I initially assumed weekend party songs with Friday or Saturday in the title (e.g. Katy Perry’s “Last Friday Night”) might win out, but I also figured the dreariness of having to start a new week after a fun few days off would be a good enough reason to write a song. However, I was surprised to learn the most commonly sung day of the week is today—Sunday! All I could recall off the top of my head was “Sunday Bloody Sunday” by U2 and “Pleasant Valley Sunday” by The Monkees, but apparently there are over 30 popular songs that have included Sunday in their titles over the decades. Saturday comes in second, but someone needs to give some love to Thursday.

Thursday is such a tease! It's a great reminder that you are close to the end of the week. At the same time however, you still need to go one more day in order to enjoy those lovely days off haha.
